About
I called Microsoft, they sent me a box. I had to pack up my Xbox and ship it away, not knowing when I would see it again. Finally, after about two weeks later I got it back. It took a long time, but I was glad I got it back, especially without paying anything.
I easily got back into my daily playing routine, and then I heard about a friend of mine who got the red ring of death. I told him that I had the same problem and how long it took me to get my system back. So, he called Microsoft and started his service call. This started happening to more and more people and turned into a big problem.
It turned out that there was a problem with the way the Xbox manufactured the units in the first place, and it wasn’t long until they extended the service period for the red rings of death problem. But when I discovered how easy it was to actually open up the Xbox and fix it yourself, I had to tell somebody, and that it how this website began. Soon after, Xbox repair guides began popping up left and right.
I had to see if they worked. I went to Ebay and bought an Xbox that had the red ring of death, and I bought an Xbox repair guide. When I finally received the Xbox a few days later, I eagerly followed the step by step directions to take the thing apart and fix the problem. I remember the particular guide I used instructed me to use one of the big, flat pencil erasures to use as a cooling pad. Anyway, I put the Xbox back together, and the Xbox came up on the first boot!
I couldn’t believe how easy it was! All you need to do is be comfortable with taking apart electronics and following directions. Of course, if you aren’t comfortable with this then I would advise against fixing one of these by yourself. But if you have ever built a computer, or even opened a computer case to replace a power supply or hard drive, then you can probably fix on of these Xbox’s yourself.
