I just don’t want to have to pay for something I know to be a minor problem, yet requires me to take my disc drive apart.
Your best bet is Microsoft. However, I would look online/yellowbook and try and find a company that repairs electronics. Call them up and see if they fix your issue, the price, and any damage warranty they offer in case they break the 360.
Did your warranty expire? If not, you can get it repaired by Microsoft for free.
