A friend of mine told me that DVDs ruin the drive over time. is this true? i’ve never heard of this before.
Its might. I played DVDs a lot on mine and had the drive break twice. I never had the RROD though.
No. Your Xbox should Run DVDs perfectly fine. Just dont move the xbox while a disk is inside and it is operating. It may scratch it.

Not in my experience. Actually, occasionally when you move an Xbox 360 with a disk in it it scratches the disk the whole way around. If this happens you can take it to a video or game shop and they might buffer it out for a small fee.
