I have heard that many xbox 360′s have had the red rings of death and that they either overheat or their disc driver is no good. And if this is outside of the 90 day warranty, you have to pay 0 to get it fixed. This seems to be a very common problem with the 360′s. The reason I am asking this is because I am thinking of getting a 360 for around 0 (at a bestbuy outlet bidding site) but am starting to think I should just wait for the ps3 because the 360 seems like poor workmanship.

i have had my 360 for well over a year now with no problems if you buy the intercooler it stops the over heating (thats why i put one on mine ) and many of the other problems are rare only a certain amoutn of consoles have it many of the problems were worse in the very early consoles near release date the new consoles are much better i have never had any problems i played on mine for 10 hours once just got a new game so had to try it out lol. and it never overheated it got warm but didnt over heat im nt sure if its my intercooler doing a good job or i just got a good console. im guessin its the intercooler because when i take it of my xbox gets a lot hotter alot faster take care ofyour console and it will take care of you.
I read Microsoft just spent 1 billion dollars on extending warranties and such because TONS of 360′s had problems, maybe this is related?
yes it has heaps of problems so you better sell it.
doesn’t change the fact that you’ll probably grow out of it and throw it out in 4 years. You are aware of built in obsolescence correct? Consumer electronics is all about that friend, without it then where would all the business be when things are actually built to last?
Sure but they extended the red light warranty to 3 years!!!
well first off the 360 does get the red ring of death if…. you leave it in a hot area or in a place where it gets no ventilation, also playing for extended amounts of time will screw any 360 over so dont play for 9 hours straight, about the 90 day warrenty not TRUE!!! microsoft offers a free 3 year warrenty from date of purchase and during those 3 years they will fix any problrm for FREE!!! not 130$ if you treat a 360 right it will last a long time, ive had mine for 10 months problem free…
No. It depends on the user. I have heard so many stories: "One time I left my game running in it for two days, and it left a ring burned on my cd! What the f—" Well DUH!
HELLO!
ANYBODY HOME!
That is how the system fails. I have had my system for six-seven months now not one thing has gone wrong. It has never had a problem reading a game, it has never had any problems that needed to be repaired.
Red ring of death? I laugh at death.
If you treat your system fairly, it will run perfectly for as long as you own it.
Heres a tip: Don’t play for hours on end. Stop. Turn off the system give it an hour or two to rest, cool down. Its not perfect, nothing is.
Microsoft recently spent $1.5 billion US to help to repent for their bugs and faults in the development of the 360. EVERYONE HAS THEIR WARRENTY INCREASED TO 3 YEARS!!!!YAY!!! (not sure of it includes all countries)
