try taking regular butter and putting it on the bars the laser moves on……. it works as lubricant it should work it did for me and my friend and i havent had this prob since
I called ms before seeing your video, and they were claiming it was my brande new 250 gig hdd and wanted me to send it in. They had me remove the hdd, it worked without the hdd, so they decided that was it. It worked once I put the hdd back on, so then they said maybe the wire was loose. It seemed odd to me that it would be anything to do with the hdd.
if your lasers in the correct place then look for 2 little screws behind the laser,turn the left screw slightly to the left about 45 degrees just over maybe it sorted my 360 out after getting the open tray problem, trust me it WORKS!!! and now av got 2 360′s. peace!
Wow. I feel very cheated. About 2 years ago, I was having this problem, and I payed them $100 to fix it. It started happening to me again a few days ago, and I did this, and it works perfectly. I’ve fixed like 4 RRoD’d 360′s, but never thought to take the disk drive apart. I can add this to my list of offered services now.

MY problem is like that, but mine will after 30 tries or so manage to read the disc(some of my discs it arent able to read at all anymore), but it might not be able to read it in-game
the reason why your laser is not in the right place is because the gold worm shaft that moves the laser has grease from the motor on it causeing it to slip, or the worm shaft motor needs replacing. i pulled one out of a teac dvd player , its exactly the same.
@h0wlongismyusername DONT PUT OIL IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!! you need to take the time and CLEAN CLEAN the parts dont like to be dirty I put my xbox in a lian li case and i have water cooling with temp monitor n got the open tray shit alll the time the dust was just attracted to all the grease that they put on the little gear that moves the lazer then it wont move it works sometimes cuz it lets loose from the dirt then catches again i recomend some kinda teflon lube spray LIGHTLY super LIGHT
