I’ve seen so many online reviews of the xbox 360 that mention how quickly crashes occur. I’m all for getting a 360, I think, if it does work correctly, it has the best games for my taste. So i’m trying to find out if the problems with the 360, were only with the first batch launched. I understand that new consoles will always seem to have glitches, but if you wait for about a year, you usually will get a better experience.
Kevin… When did you get your 360 and where?
DeanOverboard… do you know of any microsoft certified cooling fans for the 360? Overheating seems to be the main issue. I think this might somehow have to do with the huge power supply being laid onto materials such as carpet.

Btw, I also hear its better if the 360 is in a vertical position.

This site is a good reference point for the problems that have been arising with the 360.

But it doesn’t tell me if I were to go to the store and get a 360 today, if I would be throwing my money away for a couple minutes of fun and months of hassle.

  1. They aren’t having problems anymore. LIke the first XBox, Microsoft got everything figured out within a year.

  2. Yes because my one relative just got one and he got his fixed because there was too many problems.

  3. As said by socking, the main problems were really with the first batch, I bought mine December of 2006, And It works perfectly. Make sure you mail in the warranty, and don’t use third party hardware not licensed by Microsoft. (If it breaks cause of hardware like that warranty is void.) So yeah go for it.

    -Hope this helped :)

  4. Yes there are still problems but the warranty has been extended to 3 years to compensate for any failures. The problems have been much less than the first batch and are slowly being fixed. You may as well get a 360 now because the warranty will cover any problems that you encounter. Plus the quality of the titles being released for christmas is amazing. This christmas is gonna pwn nooooooobs!

  5. Most of the issues were fixed after the launch, however some problems still exist. The biggest one is around 33% of 360 consoles are overheating, but Microsoft has been doing a great job of ensuring that the problems are fixed in a timely manner, and at little or no cost to you. They have also extended the warranty to 3 years over the previous year long due to some of these unexpected problems. But, I have a 360 and I can honestly say I have had no problems out of it.

I purchased my 360 back in November of last year, and I bought it in the package deal with Moto Gp at Walmart.

  6. Ok, the new 2007 models dont have the same problem as the older 360s. That a good thing. and the games are awesome on 360, especially if you play on Xbox Live

  7. i bought my 360 about a month after it was launched…..no problems with it what so ever. i don’t even see any small ‘glitches’. works absolutely fine with all the games i got (including original xbox games) and linksys B wireless game adapter (for xbox live).
whoever said the warranty is for 3 years is wrong….the warranty is for 2 years…..and since it not been 2 years since 360 was launched…..so technically ALL 360′s in the market are covered.
first of all if you buy it from walmart they will have 45 days return/no question asked policy (compared with best buy who charges 15% restocking fee). so if stops working in 45 days just return it…..if the problem occurs after 45 days then simply call 18004myxbox and they will mail you a box to ship them your broken 360 for free repairs….you don’t even play for shipping. and not just the system….same warranty for controllers and cables too.
ps. if any thing gets ‘lost’ during return shipping….you get a brand new one for free.
so no need to be worried about the problems few 360 had….its all coverd and if you still feel insecure about buying it then just call 18004myxbox and clear your doubts

  8. ive had an xbox 360 since december and the only problem i had was it wouldnt download the free demos online so i sent it back and they sent me a brand new one (granted the warranty onlylasts for a year and it’ll be up in september (not even a year go figure)) The first batch was the worst for sure and the first batch of anything will probably always be the worst.

yeah…the new xbox works great and your right you will get a better experience more than likely if you wait. id say now is just as good a time as ever to buy an xbox 360 especially with all the great games coming out this fall and holiday season.

oh yeah and ps: the xbox 18004myxbox service is great. A+++ have worked with them about 6 times and they are moderately helpful and easy to work with. just make sure you get the nerdy guy and not the indian lady that doesnt know english.

  9. No, it isn’t having any problem. It is very good and fantastic… and i can’t describe it by words
