Xbox 360 Problems

THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL! Just getting that out of the way. 08/22/2011 A good friend of mine, who I often help out with many computer problems, started having issues with this console.. So he went and bought a brand new one. So he calls me, because I helped him set up the first console and it worked flawlessly up until now. He told me he was having problems with reading game discs, which I figured was probably due to the amount of dust that literally came pouring out of the thing when I pulled off the hard drive case… So he said, if I could fix it, I could keep it. And in fact, the laser diode itself in the DVD-ROM’s laser assembly was completely blocked by a dust ball! So yay, I just inherited a perfectly working XBox 360 lol… Not that I see myself using it much; I’m pretty sure I’ve made it clear I’m not much of a gamer. But what the hell, I’ll at least make it last! I know of the all-too-common Red Ring of Death or 3 Red Lights of Death due to major CPU and/or GPU overheating, so the system got a good overhaul by me… And after this video, I decided to jump back into it and add a 40mm fan directly to the CPU heatsink, drawing power straight from the 12v line on the console’s power input.. A little noisy admittedly but hey, it probably won’t overheat now lol.
