How the fix the annoying e74 error! You dont have to open your system to do this. If this doesn’t help you leave a comment or PM me and ill tell you what to try. Be sure to follow all the directions given in the video! Good luck and happy gaming!
No, toothpaste, no shampoo, no bananas, no peanut butter…All you need is a cloth, some chapstick and a scratched cd… EDIT: After some research, it seems that you may want to rub the stuff on in a side to side motion, and NOT in circles…idk if it is true, but, supposedly that can make it worse, so, i’d recommend rubbing it in in straight lines across the cd/dvd…BUT, i have yet to ruin a cd doing it the way it is in the video, so, im just throwin that out there… leave ratings and comments!! Subscribe too!!! How dvd drives work: electronics.howstuffworks.com (lasers are used for reading any and all media discs, [except harddrives], THEREFORE, CHAPSTICK CANNOT RUIN A DISC DRIVE’S LASER)
EDIT: This Xbox now works! I finally figured out what was wrong and fixed it. If you have the same problem, try doing a potentiometer adjustment. Google it (“potentiometer adjustment”) and click on the Xbox-scene link. It was working fine one day and the next day I got on it, it was making a clicking noise and wouldn’t even recognize my disc.
This should fix the problem. It’s pretty sad to see so many videos not cover this solution, when it’s right on the Microsoft site. I keep seeing videos of people opening their Xbox or hitting it, when they didn’t even have to. This won’t erase any downloaded content or game saves or info. It’s basically like running a disk clean or defrag on your computer. Keep in mind, an Xbox is like a computer, and the drives need to be cleaned and defragmented every once in a while. Hope it works. If not, then it’s likely a problem with your disk drive (CD ROM drive) itself. I don’t know much about warranty’s, but that should be your next step before opening it yourself. Or look on the Microsoft website. Best of luck to you if you’re still having problems. Doesn’t hurt to research before you go to “plan B”. Cheers.
