What Causes Xbox 360′s Red Ring of Death? Before finding a solution to any problem we have to found a cause. Basically, red ring of death or RRoD is a sign of “general hardware failure”, It is indicated by 3 red lights or 3 red rings near the power button. It occurs, when GPU (graphics processing unit) becomes loose. GPU is fitted on motherboard, when ever the motherboard heats up GPU become loose and green lights turn into 3 flashing red lights. The vibration of system usually loosens the soldering of the GPU freezes up your Xbox 360. How to prevent the RROD? do not play on long periods of time, this is a machine, just like a body. you in a way is a machine. when you are over worked you try to “cool down” and take a brake.
