this is my 2nd theory of how to fix it…well i found out about this problem because i noticed it made weird sounds and wouldent grab my CD…so i opened my benq vad6038 cd reader and examined it and i noticed that my CD wasnt getting grabbed from the magnet (black plastic and magnet chrome connected on the top…so i took off the tape and put it on my CD and it was able to read so my theory is that when you insert a disk in the cd reader it makes weird noises cause its not being grabbed so i made it tighten the cd reader and i was able to fix it…i was able to fix it if you need Annotions i will help with that please message…and also my Gamertag is.. @skippy717 when i had that mine just went away. try unpluging it the 360 for 1hr and try again if it doesnt work send me a message

Do I have to flash the drive when I get it? Or can I just swap out the circuit board? I’m getting the BENQ VAD6038.
if your getting a new BENQ VAD6038 you need to flash it, if you swap it its gonna give you a “To Play this xbox 360 game , you must insert it into a 360″ message so your 360 is pretty much a dvd player XD that plays arcade games ;O
how do you remove the magnet from the top of the case, i have the same drive as you but it wont go through the hole, i try to twist it but it wont come out and it hurts my hand. how did u get the magnet both the black and silver thing thorugh the circle whole on top of your case.?
Yea same with me, i tried pushing opposite directions for both the black part and the gray part but it won’t come off and it keeps making my hands all red
yea i have the xbox 360 open tray error and i was wondering if you could explain what you mean by “balancing” the dvd drive. I’m not sure i understand what you did to make the drive work. it seemed like u just pressed down on it and the drive magically started spinning. If you could explain to me how u fixed urs it would be great thanks

well what i meant balancing well when i saw my dvd drive it was crooked and then i pressed down which made it straight (balanced) and then it worked
@TimeWiseFilms sry for writing the same thing twice, i thought the first comment didn’t post. anyways thanks for explaining the “balancing” to me. i have a question though, u pushed down on the disc drive to make it balanced but how would the drive stay balanced once you let go of your hand u know. i plan on trying to take apart my 360 one more time and if i don’t fix it this time i’m going to buy another drive and see if it works.
“balancing” i let go when it started reading my disk, it worked because i pushed it down so the laser can see the cd disk cause it was far away from the laser lens.
“Grabbing” as in theres a metal part in the cd drive it looks like on 0:45 that part wasnt grabbing my cd correctly, which is why i took it out of the cd reader case and later on put it back
Thiers 4 reasons why it wouldent read (4 reasons that i know theres probally more)
1~ lens is dirty
2~ Lens Burnt Out
3~ CD is dirty and makes the lens cant read cause its sensitive
4~ or the lens is far from the CD

ok well i just got a new game battlefield bad company 2, and i started playing then it said unable to read disc..so i cleaned the disc, waited 30secs and started playing again..then it happend like an hour later, did it all again started working then another hour passes then it works..do you have any idea why thats happening?
it sounds like your 360 has no problem and sounds like the problem is in your cd not your 360 so you dont need to open it but is the disk dirty? like scratches and smudge on it? how are you cleaning the CD? with tooth paste or buffing it with a machine?
well im cleaning it with my shirt, its a brand new game got it about 2 days ago..and there is one small scratche on it but its small, i mean i can still play games if they have alot of scratches, also should i clean it with tooth paste? (never heard that before.

@AwesomeGuy40 well people used toothpaste to clean CDs long time ago haha if you know how you can you dont have to clean it with toothpaste you can buff it or clean it with other ways, but i clean it with toothpaste haa
i decided to replace it, it turns out it was the game because all my other games work.
