Well to start I’ve had my xbox for around a year. Our house doesn’t have central heating and cooling. So our house gets very dusty, very quickly. My xbox has problems with over heating, and scratching the disks. I know if I move it around a lot it will scratch the disks, I hate that. But I was wondering if the Wii over heats. I’ve played a lot of games on my 360, and want to at least get to play GTA IV. But with the shape my 360 is in, I don’t know if It’ll make it. Ive had a Wii in the past, but only for a month. I loved it so much, but I was able to sell it for 400 dollars. But there are a lot of games for both consoles, what should I do?
Oh and buying another wii without getting rid of my xbox isnt really an option right now. Just keep that in mind.

try calling the xbox support, and see what they could do for you, because it could be a hardware malfunction. thats what happened with alot of new xbox’s when they came out.
like he said, try standing it vertically so there wold be some more air flow. or you could try buying a cooling fan from a gamestop,or anywhere else. or if your xbox is nest to a wall, move it away from it because that might add to the heat.
First the xbox needs to be vertical so the cooling system can work properly (NOT LIKE THE OLD XBOX WHICH LIES FLAT) if you have it verticallyand are still having problems get a new 360. I think its no contest between wii and 360….360 has better graphics and isn’t as child oriented therefore having more games such as games like gta that are more oriented towards older people. Also many premier games are not for the wii. Assassins Creed and Halo 3 are 2 of the biggest up and coming games that you will not be able to get for the wii but will be able to get on 360 (BUY A NEW 360)
Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX, they’ll handle your problem and if your under warranty they’ll send you a new xbox for free.
The most manageable thing to do at this time is to send your XBOX360 in for repairs. The link below gives step by step instructions, as to how to go about resolving this frustrating issue.

Secondly, once your XBOX360 is repaired, I suggest buying a Pelican XBOX360 Pro Cooler, which will prevent overheating in the future. Secondly, it installs easily, and comes equipped with the video / av component outputs at the back and the other necessary outputs.
If you are desperate to own a Nintendo Wii, if you have an EB Games in your vicinity, you can trade in old gaming products/DVDs which act as a credit to lower the cost of the product you wish to purchase (in this case the Wii).
