I know this news would have been helpful at first, but I’m lazy and didn’t try it on my Toshiba drive until yesterday.

  2. Haha SCREW MICROSOFT! They put the samsung drive in my xbox and you can’t remove the motor from that kind. I hate this because now I have to spend 300 effing dollars on a new box. fml

  3. I just boughr this fucking xbox like a month ago and i tried to hotswap…couple days later bang the thing keeps doing it. I have the samsung drive…any solutions

  5. i tied 2 cotton bud together and stuk them in the tray, jst fidling about tryin to find the lazor to clean it, AND IT FUKING WORKED!!! YEEE HAAA

  7. SK8ERRB look on ebay and buy a xbox 360 dvd drive on its own it cost about 20 euro to about 30 euro

  11. @SK8ERRB or you could buy a new disk drive then switch out the keys

  12. I would add that you should use a NON FLAMMABLE lubricant as this drive motor can generate a lot of heat… WD-40 would be out unless you want some really cool fire effects…

  15. I pulled the motor apart, and there is hard white gunk caked between 2 of the copper coils. I take it this means the motor is fried??

    When I try to play a disc, it will hardly even start spinning, only real slow like for a couple seconds.

  19. for mine it plays the game then frezzes and if you eject the disk it spins and scratches and its broke two of my fav game oblivion and assassins creed 2 any ideas why

  20. Worked for me. But i didnt go as far as taking the spindle out. I just put in a few drops of lube in the spindle and it work perfectly. Im sure someday though it will need to come out to be cleaned

  25. i have a benq drive and it is different motor and harder to get off
